Final project

Here is the final presentation for our fine dining restaurant, and also the final project of the semester. I focused a lot on fitting my builing into the context of dontown Fargo. I also looked at lighting as a design element to give different moods to different types of spaces. I believe I further developed my revit skills with this project and I am excited to see what high rise brings. Great semester.

Progress

Here is my roof concept. Under the "sliced" part will be and outdoor patio. This will create shade and still allownatural light in.

These are the latest pictures of my sketch-up model that I have been working on. Some decisions are still up in the air but it is time for me to get this thing into revit.

Case Studies

The Banq Restaurant in Boston, MA.

The Conduit Restaurant
These are some case studies I found. A basic theme is to use a false ceiling to cover up the guts of the building. I feel like I can use this idea to accentuate what my building is about. I also noticed that lighting is a very important aspect of fine dining therefore I want to use lighting as a catalyst of my design.

Beginning Structure

I am currently working on the beginnings of our structure in Revit. The above is what i have so far it was pretty challenging but I think it is coming along. The next step is to make the roof and also decide how these trusses will be held up in front and what the materials will be. If you have any ideas letme know.

Newest Form

As most of you saw during our criiques, here is the newest form Aaron and I have agreed on and the beginnings of a structural model. Right now it is very urgent that we finalize floor plans so I can start our revit model. It should be an interesting sprint to the finish line.

Ag Research Center update

Aaron and I have been working lately on finalizing a form and floor plans for our research center. Both are coming along well and the structural model is in production. Here is some research I have been doing in hopes of finding a form. We are working with a more earthen building that blends into the open landscape of North Dakota, let me know what you think. The structural model will be posted later.

Its an ag thing

Here is the powerpoint used for the "stocking" of the bank. It was my objective to pick out traditional agriculture forms which could become a means of finding architectural form for the proposed ag research center.

Ice anyone?

Here is the finished ice house, it is designed to be transportable by fitting into the back of a pickup. I have never been ice fishing before, but if I were to go I think that having a warm place to fish would be most important to me. The house is constructed of prefabricated panels with insulation filling the space between studs. There is some assembly required but once it is assembled on the ice it is made to stay. Have a look...

NDSU Center for Wellness

The Ndsu Center for Wellness is meant to be a place for students and adults to maintain their health and wellness in a comfortable and active environment. I used the human body as the main driving force behind my design in order to make a more pleasing place to workout out, but also relax.

Testing 1..2...3

Don't worry its only a test.
